6 Reasons Why My Stupid Boss 2 The Sequel Is Worth Waiting For
Looking to repeat the success of the first movie, now FalconPictures are back with the sequel: My Stupid Boss 2, still starring Reza Rahadian and Bunga Citra Lestari. The drama comedy is adapted from the novel by Chaos@work, retelling the relationship between employees and their annoying boss.
1. Upi Avianto is still the screenwriter and director
The screenwriter and director is still the same person as in the first movie. So, she really understands and feels the soul of each plot in the movie. Upi has worked on and prepared the script for the My Stupid Boss 2 sequel for the past 2 years.
Admittedly, it took a long time to adapt the 5 parts-novel into this sequel, because a lot of the stories were already put in the first movie. But with Upi taking the time to prepare the script until it’s realy ready, then this movie is surely worth waiting for.
2. The first movie is the 3rd top-grossing local movie in 2016
3. Filming is done in Indonesia and Vietnam
The filming for My Stupid Boss 2 is scheduled to start this August. If in the first movie, the filming took place in Indonesia and Malaysia, in this second installment, it will take place in Jakarta and Vietnam, to be more precise in the interior regions of Ha Giang and Ninh Binh. Let’s wait and see for all of the excitements that await Bossman and Kerani in Vietnam.
4. There’s some addition of action and adventure
Upi adds a mix of action and adventure in this sequel. If the first mainly revolved around the office, then in My Stupid Boss 2, there will be the adventure Bossman in search for new employees in Vietnam, because their salary is cheaper.
5. There’s a new character called Nguyen
Nguyen is a Vietnamese, who will be played by the talented actor Morgan Oey. In his previous movies, Morgan also often played as a foreigner from other countries such as Korea and China. And now he will play a Vietnamese. Aren’t you curious about Morgan’s acting here?
6. A comedy without featuring any comics
Belakangan ini, film komedi identik dengan kehadiran para komika sebagai pemainnya. Namun My Stupid Boss pertama sukses menghadirkan film drama komedi tanpa melibatkan komika atau stand up comedian.
Lately, comedy movies are identical to featuring comics in their casts. But the first My Stupid Boss achieved success as a drama comedy without involving any comics or stand-up comedians.
As its director, Upi wants the film to be funny when viewed not because there are comedians in it, but because the situations in the story are actually funny. And the same with My Stupid Boss 2, Upi sticks to not using any stand-up comedians. This will be a new drama comedy unlike the generics.
So, for those of you who already watched the first My Stupid Boss, will you be intrigued to watch the sequel? And to those who haven’t watched it, go and watch the first film before the second is released!
