JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Director Daryl Wilson offered his views after his latest film, Panji Tengkorak, was compared to Merah Putih: One For All.

Although both animated films, Daryl Wilson stated that the two projects had very different production approaches.

"It's natural to have differing opinions, especially since they aired so close together. But in terms of the production process, Panji Tengkorak is very different from Merah Putih: One For All. Panji Tengkorak involved a large team and took more than three years to produce," Daryl said in a written statement on Wednesday (August 13, 2025).

Furthermore, Daryl Wilson explained that the production process for Panji Tengkorak involved 250 professional creative workers, including camera operators (DOPs), lighting designers, scriptwriters, prop designers, and visual effects.

"We developed everything in detail, including the props, lighting, story, and animation teams, all with experts in their fields. A total of 250 personnel were involved in the production of Panji Tengkorak," Daryl said.

Without the pressure of rushing the release, Daryl Wilson was able to maximize his team's potential in working on Panji Tengkorak.

"That's why we're not rushing. Our goal isn't just to release, but to deliver complete quality and satisfy audience expectations," he said.

Panji Tengkorak is adapted from the legendary comic by Hans Jaladara.

The film tells the story of a warrior named Panji who lives under the curse of black magic after seeking revenge for his wife's death.

In his quest to end his suffering, Panji must pursue a sacred heirloom believed to free him, while also becoming embroiled in a major conflict between kingdoms.

The voice cast for Panji Tengkorak includes Denny Sumargo, Aghniny Haque, Donny Alamsyah, Cok Simbara, Nurra Datau, Revaldo, Donny Damara, Prit Timothy, and Tanta Ginting.

This latest film from Falcon Pictures will be shown in all Indonesian cinemas starting August 28, 2025.
