Jakarta, CNN Indonesia - Singer Andmesh Kamelang tells the sad memories behind his rendition of the song Andaikan Kau Datang for the soundtrack of the film Miracle in Cell No. 7.
He admitted that he felt a certain amount of pressure in performing songs that had been sung by famous singers such as Noah and Erwin Gutawa.
However, he was able to convey his own feelings by imagining his late father singing the original Koes Ploes song in the recording room.
"I happen to no longer have a father, and coincidentally this song is related to my father and I imagine my father when I take vocals and when I finish taking vocals," said Andmesh during a media conference, Wednesday (24/8) evening.
"Incidentally, I only took one take and it was okay," continued the singer of Extraordinary Love.
Andmesh admitted that he was very happy when he was invited to lend his voice to the soundtrack of the film Miracle in Cell No.7
The film, which is adapted from the South Korean film with the same title which was released in 2013, stars Vino G. Bastian, Indro 'Warkop', Tora Sudiro, and many more.
"I'm a really big fan of this film and when I was offered the original soundtrack, I was very excited and didn't refuse, I immediately wanted to. Moreover, I heard the story that I was singing this song," said Andmesh.
In the original version produced by South Korea, the story of the film Miracle in Cell No. 7 centers on a man named Lee Yong Gu (Ryu Seung Ryong) who was imprisoned because he was wrongly accused of being the perpetrator of murder.
In prison, he joined a cell with several criminals and then made friends. These criminals actually helped Yong Gu, who missed his child, by smuggling the child into prison.
This re-production of Miracle in Cell No.7 also adds to the list of hit Korean films being re-produced by Indonesian production houses.
Miracle in Cell No. 7 will premiere on September 8 2022 in Indonesian cinemas.
