BANDUNG, iNews.id - The film Bumi Manusia, produced by Falcon Pictures, won five cinema film awards at the 2020 Bandung Film Festival (FFB). The cinema, based on the novel by Pramodya Ananta Toer, was awarded a prestigious award at FFB 2020.

The five awards that were won were Commendable Cinema Film, Commendable Leading Actor to Iqbal Ramadhan, Commendable Director to Hanung Bramantyo, Commendable Screenwriter to Salman Aristo, and Commendable Exhibition Organizer to Ipung Rachmat Saiful.

It is known, Bumi Manusia is the result of a novel adaptation by Pramodya Ananta Toer. This film raises the main character Minke, played by Iqbaal Ramadhan and and Annalies Mellema, played by Mawar de Jongh.

Bumi Manusia tells about the love between Minke and Annalies. But their love is interspersed with uncertainty about the condition of the two. This film is set in the colonial period, which is also interesting because there is a story of love and struggle.

Apart from Bumi Manusia, three other films that won awards were Jessica Mila in the film Imperfect. Actor of the Commendable Maid Jefri Nicol from the film Habibie & Ainun 3.

The role of Praised Maid for Women was given to Christine Hakim in the film Wanita Tanah Jahanam. Wawan I Wibowo won the Best Editing Director award for Habibie & Ainun 3. The Best Artistic Director went to Wencislaus de Rozari for the film Gundala, and Ira Fahrir and Dimas won the Best Musical Arranger award for Imperfect.

Head of the Bandung Film Forum Eddy D Iskandar said, this year's film observations are not even one year 2019-2020. The reason is, when the observation took place, Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) were totally enforced.

Because of this, the 2020 Bandung Film Festival observer team only observed and assessed 79 films screened in cinemas, from 1 August 2019 to 20 March 2020.

"In terms of number or quantity, of course it's not sufficient. Besides, observing and assessing films in the midst of this uncertain situation is not an easy thing, bearing in mind that there are many films that we have to observe that are not commensurate with the number of productions. Because there are production stops and there are also which have finished production but were hindered by the lockdown due to Covid-19," said Eddy D Iskandar.

From 1 August 2019 to 20 March 2020, he said, the 2020 FFB Observer Team observed 79 national film titles. In terms of quantity, it has decreased compared to last year, the 2018-2019 observation period which reached 110 film titles.

Even so, at the 33rd Bandung Film Festival in 2020, the team of observers continues to work professionally and proportionately in order to maintain the continuity of the festival which has been held since 1987.
