JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Cannes Film Festival is taking place from July 6 to July 27 with strict health protocols. According to a press release received by Kompas.com, a number of films will compete in the Competition category, including Flag Day starring actor Sean Penn. From the list of films present at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, five of them will be able to be watched through a digital platform created by Indonesian children, KlikFilm.

The five films are Flag Day, A Hero, Petrov's Flu, Nitram, and Aline: The Voice Of Love. "It is a pleasure to be entrusted with presenting films that are nominated for the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.

Currently we are waiting for the official international screening schedule from the producers," said KlikFilm Director, Frederica, Tuesday. Here's a synopsis of the five films nominated for the Cannes Film Festival that will be screened at KlikFilm:

Flag Day

It tells the story of a father who leads a double life as a forger, bank robber, and con man to provide for his daughter. This film is an adaptation of Jennifer Vogel's famous memoir "Flim-Flam Man: The True Story of My Father's Fake Life".

Aline: The Voice Of Love

This French film is inspired by the life of Céline Dion. The director of Aline: The Voice Of Love, Valérie Lemercier, also stars in this film, whose life trajectory appears to be that of Dion and her late husband, René Angélil.

Nitram

Written by Shaun Grant, the film is based on the 1996 Port Arthur Massacre in Tasmania, in which 35 people were killed and 23 injured.

Petrov's Flu

This film is director Kirill Serebrennikov's second film to enter the Cannes Film Festival after Leto. Adapted from the novel The Petrovs In and Around the Flu (2018) by Alexey Salnikov, The Petrov's Flu has new resonance because it captures life in post-Soviet Russia, especially in a city in the throes of a flu epidemic. This film follows the Petrov family as they struggle through another day where the past is never gone, the present is a dream. The actors involved are Semyon Serzin, Chulpan Khamatova, Yulia Peresild, Yura Borisov and Yuri Kolokolnikov.

A Hero

Directed and written by Asghar Farhadi, this film stars Amir Jadidi and Mohsen Tanabandeh. In June 2021, the film was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.
