11 Agustus 2022

BANDUNG, iNews.id - The film Bumi Manusia produced by Falcon Pictures won five cinema awards at the 2020 Bandung Film Festival (FFB). The cinema, which is based on a novel by Pramodya Ananta Toer, was awarded a prestigious award at FFB 2020.

The five awards that were won were the Praised Cinema Film, the Praised Main Actor to Iqbal Ramadhan, the Praised Director to Hanung Bramantyo, the Praised Screenwriter to Salman Aristo, and the Praised Exhibition Organizer Ipung Rachmat Saiful.

It is known, Bumi Manusia is an adaptation of a novel by Pramodya Ananta Toer. This film raises the main character Minke, played by Iqbaal Ramadhan and Annalies Mellema, played by Mawar de Jongh.

Earth of Man is about the romance between Minke and Annalies. But their love is interspersed with uncertainty about their condition. This film is set during the colonial period, which is also interesting because there is a story of love and struggle.

Besides Bumi Manusia, three other films that have won awards are Jessica Mila's Leading Female Actor in the film Imperfect. Praiseworthy Male Assistant Actor Jefri Nicol from the movie Habibie & Ainun 3.

The Praised Supporting Role was given to Christine Hakim in the film Perempuan Tanah Jahanam. Wawan I Wibowo won the Commendable Editing stylist award in Habibie & Ainun 3. Wencislaus de Rozari won the Commendable Artistic Stylist in the Gundala film, and Ira Fahrir and Dimas won the Praised Musical Arranger award in Imperfect.

Chairman of the Bandung Film Forum, Eddy D Iskandar, said that this year's film observation was not even one year in 2019-2020. The reason is, when the observation took place, the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) were totally enforced.

Therefore, the 2020 Bandung Film Festival observer team only observed and assessed 79 films that were screened in theaters, from August 1, 2019 to March 20, 2020.

"From the point of view of quantity, of course it is not sufficient. After all, observing and judging films in the midst of this uncertain situation is not easy, considering that many films that we have to watch are not commensurate with the amount of production. Because some production has stopped and some have finished production but have been blocked by the Covid-19 lockdown," said Eddy D Iskandar.

During August 1, 2019–March 20, 2020, he said, the FFB 2020 Observer Team observed as many as 79 national film titles. Quantity decreased compared to last year, the 2018-2019 observation period which reached 110 film titles.

Even so, in the 33rd Bandung Film Festival in 2020, the observer team continues to work professionally and proportionally in order to maintain the continuity of the festival, which has been held since 1987.
